Live Streamed Theater – Better Left Unsaid
More than 50,000 unique viewers later, Better Left Unsaid- the first interactive live streamed play, closed with a bang on February 6th, 2011. Viewers from around the world Facebooked, Twittered, chatted and emailed their virtual standing ovations.
Staged in front of a live audience, shot with multiple cameras, mixed in real time and streamed live to the internet, Better Left Unsaid paved a new pathway for what theater can be as we enter the 21st century.
Produced along with Joey Brenneman and Erin Bigelow , Better Left Unsaid was a cross between a play, an online video and a live streaming TV event that proved that
- It is possible to engage viewers from all over the world in New York Theater
- People will pay for online video when you position it as theater
- By tailoring shooting style to the web it is possible to make theater engaging, authentic and exciting to an online audience
- Live theater fills a much needed void on the live streaming platform
- People will return to a live streamed play again and again
- There is a viable business model for live streamed theater
We are also proud that Better Left Unsaid was a female driven project. It was conceived of, written by, directed by, and produced by women. We are proud to invest a mature female voice into an online video community wherein the creatives are mostly male. Men are great… but we fervently believe that a woman’s vision, voice and experience is equally crucial to the artistic growth of the interactive storytelling medium.
Feel free to catch our final Saturday night performance courtesy of the Dynamo Player. This is the original, live edited performance exactly as our online audience saw it. Their is a micro-payment of $2.99 required to watch the show- any profits go to our cast and crew.
